“You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness.” 1 Thessalonians 2:5 (NIV)
Wearing masks on the stage or in a game may be a fun thing to do, but doing so in real life can get you into murky waters; it can disconnect us from personal responsibility for our actions. Sometimes, we feel tempted to do something that “doesn’t seem too bad”, or tell ourselves it’s just a “grey area.” There aren’t any grey areas when it comes to God. There’s only right and wrong to our Great Judge.
Whenever you feel the temptation to do something that’s in one of these grey areas repeat this passage from 2 Corinthians 4:2 The Message version: “We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don’t maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don’t twist God’s Word to suit ourselves.”
Don’t test God’s wrath. He’s merciful and forgiving, but He’s also just. Take time to pray anytime you find yourself making excuses.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to live a genuine life for you. Join me in my daily walk and lead me on the path away from temptation. Amen.
