“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18 NIV
Love makes us bold. It gives us confidence because fear and distrust are banished in the presence of love. This seems opposite to what many of us think about the traditional romantic view of love. Romantic movies and books have a view of love that is full of self-consciousness and doubt.
However, the Bible makes so many comparisons between Christ and his church and a loving husband and wife. The perfect love–what marriage should be– is a complete devotion that would drive out fear. We can love boldly because Christ first loved us.
Feel this love today. Rest in the peace of knowing that God loves you unconditionally. This kind of love will help you, in turn, pass that love on to others in your life. Do not fear; love.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me feel your love today. Show me where I can love others better and where I am not loving in a selfless manner. Amen.
