“How can you believe? While accepting glory from one another, you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God.” John 5:44
Did you know Adolf Hitler was named Man of the Year by Time Magazine in 1938? The man who was responsible for the deaths of more than 11 million people was given an honorary title given to people of great stature. That’s how trustworthy honor from our fellow humans can be.
Earthly honors may be flattering, but we mustn’t be fooled by the glitz and glamour of earthly admiration. Humans are too easily tricked into seeing goodness and worth in fame and prestige. Only the glory that comes from God is worth running after. As it says in John 5:44, “How can you believe? While accepting glory from one another, you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God.”
If you only look for the glory of men, you’re only storing up treasures on Earth and not in heaven.
Prayer: Dear Lord help me to seek your pleasure and not the glory that man can give.
