“And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.” 2 Thessalonians 3:13 NIV
Life is hard, guys. I’ll just be straight with you. We aren’t promised an easy road as Christians and life can be downright tiresome. Living in a sinful world promises us a difficult journey, one that can easily wear us out, if we aren’t careful where we let our thoughts focus. Sometimes I get distracted by those thoughts that weigh me down and make me oh-so-tired. But as Christians, we are given hope.
“Stories Hemmed with Hope” is what author Cynthia Ruchti says she writes, and I love that metaphor. As if on either side of us, we were snuggled up with protective stitches of hope. Whenever I grow tired of this world, I focus on the good, the hope that is left in this failing world. Sometimes that means curling up with a good book or volunteering my time towards putting some hope back in this world. Try to seek out hope and goodness in your day. Do not grow tired, for we have many good things ahead.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me your eyes to see the good in the world and the good in your people. Show me how I can do more good today. Amen.
