“There is no one righteous, not even one.” Romans 3:10 (NIV)
According to a recent study, more than half of all Americans enjoy watching reality TV shows. The reason these shows are so popular is the human desire to see how people react to different situations. Sometimes, we even like to think that we would do better in the same situation.
We can be tempted to treat stories from the Bible like these reality TV shows. We like to think that we would do better if placed in the Garden of Eden or that we wouldn’t have been so deluded by Delilah if put in Sampson’s shoes. The fact we must remember is that we are all sinners. We’ll all have our off days, our temptations, our weaknesses. Just as we shouldn’t yell at our TVs when our favorite contestant has a bad day, we must be careful not to judge those from our Christian history.
We all will stumble. As Romans 3:10 says, “There is no one righteous, not even one.”
Remember today that you are human and in need of a savior.
Prayer: Jesus, please save me from my vanity, my temptations, my weaknesses. Help me to recognize my sin and steer toward your ways. Amen
